Dr Dooley Forensic Experience
Dr Dooley has extensive experience conducting forensic psychological assessments with juveniles and adults. He has conducted several thousand psychological assessments involving all levels of crime from summary to serious offences (e.g., homicide, rape). Dr Dooley has experience conducting a broad range of evaluations related to issues such as criminal responsibility (i.e., mental state at the time of the offence), competence to stand trial, mitigation, risk assessment, malingering, substance use, to name but a few.
Dr Dooley has completed specialized training in the assessment of violence and sexual violence (including with special populations, e.g., individuals with Autism or an Intellectual Disability) and has completed hundreds of violence and sexual violence risk assessments. He has expertise in the assessment of a broad range of criminal, family law, and medicolegal issues.
Dr Dooley completed his Ph.D. at the University of Melbourne where he investigated the impact of traumatic brain injury on aggressive and violent behaviours. He is an award-winning researcher and has taught university-level courses in forensic psychology, the biology of mental illness, and the biology of suicide.
